Each week in March and April, PACRIM 2016 will be highlighting one of our many talented presenters who stand out for their passion and commitment to young people, to education and to the research they undertake.
This week, we are proud to feature Jennifer Kramer aka ‘ Ms. Jenny’ who will be presenting on Monday, April 25th from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in Room 302B. If you miss her, she will also be having an exhibit booth – Edutunes - which will showcase her products.
Who is this wonder woman?
Miss Jenny has written and professionally produced over 350 songs that teach life skills, reading, math, science, and more. Her YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/edutunes, has over 1.3 million hits and features over 30 free videos. She is a teacher (on sabbatical) at Iroquois Point Elementary School, a doctoral student in Learning Design and Technology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a recent winner of the Small Business Administration’s “Innovate-Her” contest in Hawaii.
In her words!
“I began writing songs 18 years ago to meet the needs of every single child in my classroom,” says Miss Jenny. “Songs are a way to build bridges across the range of abilities. All levels of children love to sing together. When they sing about kindness, they bond together through the energy of the music and learn kindness together. When they read as they sing, they learn specific skills and develop vocabulary. Math songs bring abstract ideas to life. Overall, songs are a great, research-based way to build teamwork, to reinforce skills, and to instill a love for learning.”
A big wow to Ms Jenny.
