International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health or ICF provides a unifying framework for classifying the consequences of disease. Functioning and disability are viewed as a complex interaction between the health condition of the individual and the contextual factors of the environment along with personal factors. The ICF can be used beyond diagnosis to address functioning, which situates it ideally for developing, monitoring, and evaluating health interventions and outcomes.
