The Think Tank shares the mission of the Pacific Alliance to support Individuals with Disabilities (IWD) in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Fields. As part of its commitment to increase the numbers of IWD in STEM postsecondary education programs, and ultimately the STEM workforce in Hawai‘i, the focus of this one-day Think Tank is to generate ideas about how to augment participation of Wounded Warriors in STEM careers. The HeART of Teaching: Hawaiian Views/Practices of Teaching and Learning

This experiential workshop will look at key ingredients of Hawaiian epistemology in the well-known song: Ekolu Mea Nui. Each aspect of knowledge, knowing and understanding will be discussed and exampled within a Hawaiian philosophical framework. Educators are welcome to come with an open mind and willing heart to explore more of their own ancient systems of learning/teaching within a cultural system relevant and needed in these changing and mythic times. Youth Leadership Empowerment Academy

Have you ever felt that your voice was lost in the crowd? That you can’t make a difference on your own? We think we have limitations, but we can evolve and transcend. This year’s Youth Leadership Empowerment Academy at the Pacific Rim Conference on Disability and Diversity focuses on the “we” rather than the “I” and attempts to empower each individual to come together in a communal effort to make a change.
