This program area of the conference encompasses those topic areas not presently addressed through research or advocacy initiatives at the Center on Disability Studies yet prevail as salient issues important to our diverse communities. What connect the following topic areas are the conceptual and practical aspects of human development and human security—threats to the well being of people, communities, nations and inclusive development. If our common goal is to promote and protect human survival, daily life and the avoidance of indignities, then persons with disabilities who have been left behind or marginalized at the individual and group levels must be included in all aspects towards our far-reaching vision of human development and human security for all.
