Transition to Adulthood
The ultimate test of special education services is how well youth with disabilities do after they transition to adulthood. If you have developed, implemented, and/or conducted research on ways to better support youth in this process, then you should consider sharing what works at the annual Pacific Rim Conference on Disabilities. The strand on Transition to Adulthood will focus on evidence-based or promising innovative strategies and practices to improve preparation for transition while youth are still in school, and to better support their success in employment, postsecondary education, and independent living after they leave school. Presentations include:
- From School to LIFE
- Transition Planning with Sticky notes
- Thinking Through Improvement: Tools and Strategies to Guide Improvement Efforts
- Check & Connect: A Comprehensive Dropout Prevention and Intervention Model
- Project Ho‘omohala
- Conducting Program Evaluation with Transition-Age Youth with Serious Emotional and Behavioral Challenges in a Racially and Ethnically Diverse Community
- Factors influencing the needs of transition services for independent living of high school students with disabilities in Taiwan
- Wisconsin Statewide Transition Initiative
- Improving Employability through Supported Post Secondary Education for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities: Can it be done? A Student’s and a Parent’s Perspective
- And much much more...
