Hawaii STRIDE Transition Workshop
Monday, May 4: 3:45 pm - 6:00 pm, Hawaii Convention Center
The Hawaii STRIDE Transition workshop will
interactively share information and many resources for use in a community-based, mentoring project for culturally diverse young adults with disabilities
in transition with a goal of employment or higher education. The session will conclude with a mentor and mentee panel “talk story” session.

based national training curriculum that is being used in over 30 states to support a profession of direct care. Based on the Community Supports
Skills Standards, the College of Direct Support is the cornerstone of a national training and mentoring movement for developing a profession of direct

popular research designs used in disability studies and the social sciences. Both methods prominently rely upon multiple forms of data collected,
analyzed, and merged, yet these popular research methods also possess distinct differences, most apparent, in relation to the focus of the
investigation, the purpose for conducting the research, paradigmatic stance, and the desire or applicability to generalize results.

Setting the Stage for Social Success

This workshop will teach parents and
professionals new techniques that can be used to teach social cognition skills to children, teens and adults whose disabilities impact their
social interaction skills. The workshop will be highly interactive, and participants will leave with specific skill sets that can be used at home,

Workshop—Barrier Free Environments

The session will have four sections that address how
barrier free design affects employment, housing, and services in facilities that serve individuals with disabilities, parents with babies, parents
with special needs children, children with special needs parents, temporarily disabled, and senior citizens.
