Deaf Education
The Deaf Education topic area on Monday, April 14th will focus on evidence-based or promising innovative strategies and practices to support educational and employment success for deaf children and adults. The Deaf Education topic area will include sessions by a variety of deaf and hearing presenters from New York, California, Maryland, Hawai‘i, and the Pacific on topics related to bilingual education, literacy development, use of innovative relay and communication technology, and post- secondary educational and employment support for students from Micronesia. The day will conclude with a showing of the award-winning PBS documentary “Through Deaf Eyes” and a round table discussion on identifying needs of deaf students and their teachers in the Pacific and possible support from the Gallaudet University Regional Center serving Hawai‘i and the Pacific for addressing those needs.
