Culturally Responsive Education

The placement of many Native Hawaiian children in Hawaii’s public schools in special needs programs often reflects low expectations. The Pacific Rim Conference program on educational strategies and curriculum supporting Native Hawaiian children and youth seeks proposals presenting stories, ideas, or information which that further discussions regarding the educational status of Native Hawaiian children & youth. Topic leaders are particularly interested in evidence-based or promising innovative strategies and practices supporting Native Hawaiian children and youth in achieving high academic standards through cultural relevancy. Those with experience crafting solutions in numerous Charter Schools focused on Native Hawaiian culture are highly encouraged to submit. This topic area will feature noted speakers, breakout sessions, panel discussions, and poster display/presentations.
