“Culturally Responsive Education: The Efficacy of Aloha”
Congratulations! We are here to celebrate twenty years in the field of diversity education and what better way to honor this evolution than through the efficacy of aloha. Thus begins the rigorous reflection of what culture means to the wholeness of ourselves, our students, our society. Welcome to a new epistemology, a new way of looking at knowledge and a radical way at practicing knowing something. Here is where we are as a planet: how are we to evolve, to grow with consciousness that sees love as a form of intelligence and joy as the inherent quality of engagement? How can we triangulate ourselves back to meaning with the use of body, mind and spirit? Easy: measure/evaluate/witness is just one of the many ways we can discuss the changes that are here with regard to assessment. Let’s get into it with regard to truth, remembering and the empowerment gained through our own experiences. Don’t you think it’s time? The ho‘oulu is on!
