Lois-Ann Yamanaka is the author of a book of poetry, Saturday Night at the Pahala Theatre (Bamboo Ridge Press, 1993), also available on cassette; novels: Wild Meat and the Bully Burgers (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, 1996), Blu’s Hanging (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, 1997), Heads by Harry (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1999) and Father of the Four Passages (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2001) as well as a young adult novel, Name Me Nobody and an illustrated children’s book, The Hearts’s Language (Hyperion Books for Children). Her fifth novel, Behold the Many, will be published in February 2006.

Lois-Ann Yamanaka is the recipient of the Pushcart Prize XVIII and XIX, a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship, the Asian American Studies National Book Award, a Carnegie Foundation Grant, the Elliot Cades Award for Literature and National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, the Asian American Literary Award and a Lannan Literary Award.

Born in Ho‘olehua, Moloka‘i and raised in Hilo, Pahala and Keauhou-Kona on the Big Island of Hawai‘i, she lives in Honolulu, Hawai‘i with her son.
