Self Determination: It’s All About Us
This strand will focus on ways to put people with disabilities in charge of our own lives. We are encouraging presentations by people with disabilities who can share their firsthand experiences, and by professionals and family members who have supported them in these efforts. The strand will focus on practical ways to overcome the barriers that the current system, including health care, housing, transportation, and benefits such as Social Security and Medicaid, places in the way of people with disabilities who want a chance to live their lives for themselves.
