Meet up: Hawaii Benefits Information NetworkEpisode 27 (October):In this episode of Disability Perspective, the Medicaid Infrastructure Grant introduces the Hawaii Benefits Information Network, where people with disabilities, family members, and the public can obtain essential information related to the Social Security Federal benefits, and many State-related benefits. The talk show features Chin Lee from Center on Disability Studies, Cavin Castaneda, Linda Takai and Geneva Twiggs who are certified Benefits Educators.

CDS on the Airwaves and Going Global!The Center on Disability Studies (CDS), as part of its outreach initiative, produces a monthly community television program called Disability Perspectives, airing on OLELO Channel 54. The Third Season will feature video on demand and global programming seldom seen in the islands. The show is also undergoing a splashy visual makeover! The segment series combines, documentary and TV magazine style formats with specific topic features in each one hour episode. Episodes include current events, and conversations on work and self employment, cultural and special education initiatives, human rights, disability culture, and other issues important to our communities. The Center on Disability Studies is located at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa in the College of Education. The mission of the CDS is to support the quality of life, community inclusion, and self-determination of all persons with disabilities and their families. This is accomplished through training, service, research, education, demonstration, evaluation, and dissemination activities internationally, nationally, regionally, and locally. |
